Atlassian recently announced the Enterprise Release of Jira 8.5 and Jira Service Desk 4.5. These releases are targeted at the largest Server and Data Center organizations who value stability above all else due to the complexity of their configurations. As such, they have been subjected to rigorous performance and scalability testing and contain backported bug fixes and security updates for long-term support.
Enterprise releases are ideal for customers who plan to upgrade and use the version for a year or more and need a longer support window. Additionally, these releases aren’t done as a means to further test and vet against both the platform and the previous Enterprise release. With these certified releases, organizations can upgrade less frequently and with confidence.
In this post, we’re going to breakdown the latest improvements, updates and bug fixes in Jira 8.5 and Jira Service Desk 4.5. Here’s what you can look forward to as you prepare to upgrade.
Atlassian has made over 40 third-party component updates as well as performance-boosting optimizations to enhance your experience and productivity. You’ll notice that tasks such as JQL searches, loading boards, queues, and backlogs can be done much faster, improving efficiency for your end-users. Here a few other notable additions.
Issue Archiving: You can now de-clutter your instance by archiving individual issues within seconds, while they are kept safe and accessible should you need to retrieve them in the future.
Batching Emails: If you’re tired of receiving separate emails for every issue update, you can now elect to receive them in batches that arrive at a single time you pre-determine.
Search and Accessibility: The search experience now includes support fields for advanced search. In addition, a number of accessibility improvements have been made to include priority icons, fixed color contrast, screen reader support, and more.
Jira Server Mobile App: Now you can keep an eye on your issue tickets while you’re on the go with the new Jira Server Mobile App. You can also browse, create, and comment on issues, at any time, whether you’re in the office or not.
Jira 8.5 and Jira Service Desk 4.5 support Java 11, Microsoft SQL Server 2019, Oracle 18c and 19c, Aurora PostgreSQL (Data Center), and come with AdoptOpenJDK JRE 8.
