Every year we look forward to attending Atlassian Summit. We’re always eager to hear the latest and greatest in new product launches, as well as thought leadership on product best practices and how to improve teamwork processes.

This year was a bit of a new experience. In light of COVID-19 and social distancing, Atlassian Summit was held remotely. With so much having changed, even in just the last couple weeks, we were really eager to hear how Atlassian and their partners are adapting to the new changes and the remote work environment.

What’s New in Atlassian Cloud

Atlassian Cloud Enterprise – Early Access 5/2020
Atlassian will be releasing a new cloud plan for enterprise (1,000+ users) for Jira Software, Confluence and Jira Service Desk. It was designed to meet security, compliance, privacy, administration, billing, and governance needs at scale and will integrate seamlessly with your existing tools.

An Early Access Program will start in May 2020 giving teams the ability to use and test:

  • Jira Software Cloud and Confluence Cloud products only
  • 10K users per instance (also in EAP)
  • Data residency
  • Sandbox
  • Release Tracks

At General Availability, you can expect the following new benefits and features:

  • Centralized user billing
  • Unlimited horizontal scale
  • Enterprise Sandbox

  • Data Residency
  • 99.95% financially backed Service Level Agreement

Increased Security with Atlassian Access
At Summit, Atlassian announced the launch of their first live integration with McAfee’s CASB solution: McAfee MVISION Cloud. This integration will allow customers who have Atlassian Access and McAffee MVISION Cloud to connect the two systems for advanced security features like:

  • Data Loss Prevention
  • Threat Protection
  • Monitoring across all Atlassian Cloud products
  • Visibility into user and administrator activity by filtering activities based on location, user, and activity type for forensic investigation.
  • Ability to identify anomalous behaviour without needing manual intervention from customers.

New Partner Integration Apps

Atlassian announced 40+ new applications and integrations developed with platform partners. These new applications will connect your favorite DevOps, IT, Cloud Security, and Team Collaboration tools to Atlassian products.

What’s New in Atlassian Server & Data Center

Jira Software Server and Data Center

COMING SOON: Improved Sprint Management to support the creation of multiple sprints with planned dates so both Program Managers and Scrum masters and their teams can align and improve work forecasting.

COMING SOON: Jira Software and Jira Align Connector will enable easier connection and maintenance. With a seamless integration, teams can improve time to value with minimal overhead required to stay in sync.

Portfolio for Jira Server and Data Center

COMING SOON: Capacity Management Sprint Velocity will soon be adjustable based on just a few factors to create better expectations and remove the guesswork around planning.

Confluence Macro for Portfolio finally you are now able to embed Portfolio plans in live pages so stakeholders can always stay updated in real time.

Jira Align

Jira Align and Trello connector now links Trello boards to your Jira Align instance allowing you to create burnup charts and cumulative flow reports for your Team boards. This allows you to see how progress in quarterly increments stacks up against overall objectives.

COMING SOON: Objectives and Key Results – OKRs in Jira Align will have a real-time dashboard display of OKR scores and the work connected to the OKR to understand the overall impact of sprints on OKR.

COMING SOON: AI for Jira Align is in the works to make Jira Align smarter and improve how it presents data, so you can be sure you’re making the right decisions for your business.

 

Jira Service Desk Server/Data Center

COMING SOON: High contact incident management with Jira Service Desk and Opsgenie will give improved integrated functionality and insights to help IT teams resolve incidents on one platform with greater efficiency.

COMING SOON: Improved queues will allow agents to be able to bulk edit issues, make changes in line, and star, or subscribe commonly used queues.

AWS Service Catalog now allows users to self-serve and request admin-approved AWS catalog products within Jira Service Desk while governance and compliance needs are met.

COMING SOON: Multilingual customer portal will give customers the ability to display the language of the user so every employee can have a seamless experience.

Bitbucket Server/Data Center and Bamboo

COMING SOON: Integrated CI/CD support in Bitbucket will make it easy to build and maintain a CI/CD pipeline and remove the need to constantly switch between products.

Improved branch configurations in Bamboo give the ability to define and maintain branch configurations that differ from the master branch so developers can update configurations as often as they need.

New and improved pull request in Bitbucket now has increased performance by almost 50% across key pages and interactions resulting in improved collaborations. Reviewers now have the ability to suggest changes where needed and filters have been added to the file tree.

Data Center Specifics

Clustering is now an optional feature in Data Center so customers who don’t need high availability can enjoy Data Center features without the added expense and overhead required to deploy a clustered architecture. As a result, customers can upgrade from Server to DC in under 2 minutes, by simply adding the license key.

Security, compliance, and governance is evolving to expand infrastructure and operations, data and insights, and more. Features include:

Advanced User Management 

  • Authentication (support for OpenID)
  • COMING SOON: Authorization (OAuth 2.0 support)
  • COMING SOON: User provisioning (JIT and SCIM support)

COMING SOON: Advanced Auditing

Advanced auditing will allow enterprises to track, log and analyze actions taking place in their actions so they can ensure they are meeting information security and compliance needs. This includes extended event coverage, file externalization, audit delegation, and enhanced UI.
