Job Opening – Atlassian Business Analyst

Background

The Business Analyst will lead the analysis, documentation, and communication to support Coyote Creek’s clients on Atlassian projects. The BA will assist with identifying and documenting requirements, requirement handoffs to engineers, and user acceptance testing.

The Atlassian Business Analyst role will design and document requirements, while understanding and translating the clients’ needs into business and technical requirements.

As a member of Coyote Creek’s team, you will work with a wide range of clients anywhere from startups all the way up to Fortune 100 and everything in between. Our clients are the best and brightest in Silicon Valley, the US and the World, in a wide range of industries and level of maturity. This position is remote based, but some travel may be required up to ~5%. You’ll be working on and collaborating with a distributed team with members across the US and Canada and may need to adjust your working hours to suit North American time zones. The team works with IT, Engineering, Operations, and a wide range of other business teams on the management of Atlassian’s applications. It’s an exciting space and the way teams use Atlassian’s tools is ever changing and evolving.

Essential Atlassian Business Analyst Skills (Must Have’s)

  • Experience with Atlassian applications such as Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, BitBucket, etc.
  • Experience working with clients to elicit business and technical requirements
  • Experience with quality assurance testing including writing and performing test cases
  • Experience documenting requirements on a variety of project types including new applications, upgrades, and maintenance work
  • Experience documenting requirements in a variety of formats including workflow diagrams, user stories, and sequence diagrams
  • Experience working directly with engineering to communicate all requirements and smoothly facilitate requirement handoffs
  • Experience deriving the difference between the clients’ needs over the clients request
  • Experience working in a software team’s Software Development Life Cycle, including agile methodologies
  • 3+ years of Client-facing functional consulting is preferred
  • 3+ years of Business Analysis work minimum
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills

Essential Atlassian Business Analyst Duties And Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Be the conduit between the client and the engineering team to ensure that all client needs are clearly documented and defined before work begins.
  • Requirement Documentation:
    • Leads the clients to elicit current state and future vision of client work processes
    • Documents business requirements, technical requirements, user flows, and constraints
    • Documents design ideas in the forms of comps/mock-ups, sequence diagrams, or dataflows for review by business client
    • Analyzes a variety of work processes and the associated document and information flow
    • Works with sales and service delivery to determine original scope to document against scope vs. client requests
    • Facilitates meetings including design, requirements gathering, etc.
    • Documents use cases and acceptance criteria to be then transformed into test cases
    • Transitions relationship with client to engineering and service delivery to drive satisfaction
  • Testing: Performs first pass of user testing from engineering hand-off. Ensures that test cases represent the product being handed off to clients.
  • Compliance: Ensures all required service methodologies and processes are followed in accordance with the standards set forth by Coyote Creek.
  • Assessment: Assists in the assessment and documentation of business opportunities, benefits, risks, and success factors of clients
